Chocolate Protein Chia Pudding
When working with clients and members in my online program, The Healthy Hormone Method, I am often asked what are some quick and easy, yet delicious recipes for breakfast and snacks...

Enter chia pudding!

It takes all of 3 minutes to mix together, and contains a powerhouse combination of nutrients!

Chia seeds are a great source of healthy fats. In fact, just 2 tablespoons contain 6g of Omega 3 essential fatty acids. This is a big deal given our bodies cannot make essential fatty acids - we must get them from food and/or supplementation.

Healthy fats are anti-inflammatory, which can help with mood (depression and anxiety are, in part, inflammatory conditions), pain, weight management, hormone health, autoimmune conditions...and a number of other things!

Another other really cool thing about chia seeds is that they contain all the essential amino acids - the amino acids we cannot make ourselves, and need from diet and/or supplementation.

Other than hemp seeds, most other vegetarian sources can't make this claim...and this is important as some of these amino acids, like tryptophan, actually help us make feel good neurotransmitters, like serotonin! Pretty awesome, right?

Chia seeds are also an incredible source of fibre. In order to support healthy hormones and healthy bowel motions, I recommend women eat 30 - 35g of fibre every day. Well, guess what...2 tablespoons of chia seeds has over 8g of fibre!!

Combine that with the cacao powder in this recipe (1 tablespoon has 4g of fibre) and you have a fibre-rich recipe that tastes awesome! Who says we need bread and cereal for fibre?!

This chia pudding ticks all the boxes. It is full of healthy fats, protein and fibre! A great way to support your hormone health, energy and mental health.

*Be sure to let the pudding set at least one hour, and overnight where possible.

This is because chia seeds have a hard, protective shell. They need to soak (or be ground up) to break that shell and allow us to actually utilise the nutrients....otherwise we will poop them out without getting any of the benefit.

Enjoy!
