Want to know what’s in unfiltered tap water that I’m concerned about as a Naturopath & Functional Medicine Coach?
-Chlorine & chloramines that disrupt your gut microbiome
-Fluoride that competes with iodine & stresses your thyroid
-Heavy metals that burden your liver & kidneys over time
-Pharmaceutical residues, including synthetic estrogens, that act as endocrine disruptors
-Microplastics now being found in human blood & organs
-Pesticide runoff linked to gut permeability & inflammation
Fluoride can also mess with your parathyroid function, inhibit insulin secretion and decrease melatonin production. Not good!
This is why I have filtered my water for over a decade.
While I lived in Australia, I loved and used the Zazen water filter. So, when I moved back to the US, I got an equivalent filter by Santevia.
Both are wonderful. They clear out all the junk and remineralize the water, which is crucial! However, they are SLOW to filter.
I accidentally broke my Santevia a while ago & was buying bottled water. Not ideal long term. It is costly & puts a big burden on the environment.
So, I got to researching and decided on the NatureFlow Reverse Osmosis Filter. It removes all of the nasties incredibly well.

One caveat though is that RO removes the good stuff too. It strips the beneficial minerals.
That is why I don’t usually recommend a RO filter unless you are using mineral drops to remineralize the water.
I didn’t want to do that, so I found a filter that has a remineralization filter stage. Not only are all the toxins removed, the good stuff is added back in!
This is vital because unremineralized water doesn’t hydrate properly & can pull minerals from your tissues over time.
Clean, properly mineralized water is one of the simplest, most foundational things you can do for your hormones, your gut, your energy & your long-term health.
